Information
Chesham Sans is a contemporary sans serif created as the foundational typeface for Quainton Type. Designed to become the foundry's everyday voice, it balances geometric clarity with a warm, approachable character, offering a distinctive alternative to more neutral neo-grotesque typefaces.
The family comprises 14 static styles across seven weights, from Thin to Bold, accompanied by separate Roman and Italic variable fonts. Chesham Sans is equally at home in branding, editorial design, digital products, packaging, signage and environmental graphics. Generous proportions, considered spacing and a confident rhythm provide a dependable foundation, while subtle details give the letterforms a quiet but recognisable personality.
Rather than chasing trends, Chesham Sans was developed through an exploration of balance, proportion and readability. The aim was to create a typeface that feels contemporary without becoming sterile: functional enough for everyday use, yet expressive enough to establish a consistent voice across a wide range of applications.
Chesham Sans supports 486 Latin-script languages and includes a versatile collection of OpenType features. It is designed to perform across international projects while maintaining the clarity, consistency and character that define the Quainton Type approach.
