Website terms of use

This website and its content, including typeface designs, font software, text, images, specimens, graphics and branding, are owned by or licensed to Quainton Type and are protected by intellectual-property law.

The public web-demo fonts are supplied only to display Quainton Type's work within this website. They are not licensed for extraction, redistribution, installation, design work, publication or commercial use. A commercial font licence must be purchased before using the retail font software.

You may browse the website, download the PDF specimen for reference and share links to public pages. You must not interfere with the website, attempt to bypass access controls or use its content in a way that infringes Quainton Type's rights.

We take reasonable care to keep the website accurate and available, but may update, correct, suspend or withdraw content and functionality. Nothing in these terms excludes liability where doing so would be unlawful.

Terms of sale

Orders and the contracting parties

Our order process is handled by Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record for paid orders. Paddle processes payment, calculates and remits applicable taxes, issues the sales receipt or invoice, and handles payment-related customer service, refunds and chargebacks. The font software is licensed to the named Licence Holder by Quainton Type under the applicable Quainton Type licence agreement.

An order is accepted only after Paddle confirms successful payment. Before paying, you can review the selected typeface, font styles, licence holder, company size, permitted uses and price. You are responsible for ensuring those details are correct and sufficient for the intended use.

Prices and tax

Prices shown by Quainton Type are licence subtotals unless stated otherwise. Applicable sales tax is added or presented according to the buyer's location and is shown before payment is completed. Currency conversions and localised prices displayed through Paddle may change with exchange rates and location.

Digital delivery

Fonts are digital content supplied by download after successful payment. The Licence Holder must provide a working email address and is responsible for downloading and securely backing up the supplied files. If delivery fails or the files are damaged, contact us so that access can be restored or replacement files supplied.

Font licences

Purchasing font software grants a limited licence to use it; it does not transfer ownership of the typeface or font software. The licence holder and all users must comply with the licence terms selected at purchase. Current licence summaries are available on the Licensing page. The End User Licence Agreement and Licence Schedule govern the purchase; the order confirmation, invoice or purchase receipt records the selected licence details and limits.

Business purchases

If you purchase for a business, organisation or client, you confirm that you have authority to bind the named licence holder. Any mandatory legal rights that cannot be excluded continue to apply.

Refund and cancellation policy

Because font files are digital content, purchases are generally non-refundable and non-exchangeable once the files have been downloaded, accessed or used, except where required by applicable law or where the supplied files are faulty.

Where a statutory cooling-off period applies, you may have a right to cancel before delivery begins. To receive the fonts immediately, you will be asked to consent to immediate digital delivery and acknowledge that any applicable right to cancel may be lost once downloading or access begins.

This policy does not limit rights relating to digital content that is faulty, not as described or not supplied. We will first try to repair or replace faulty files. Where that is not possible or appropriate, another remedy, including a refund, may be provided as required by law.

Paid-order refunds and statutory withdrawal requests are handled by Paddle in accordance with its terms and refund policy. Use the support link in your Paddle receipt or visit paddle.net. You can also contact hello@quainton.xyz for product or licence support.

Privacy notice

Who controls your information

Jonathan Quainton trading as Quainton Type is the controller of personal information collected directly through this website for trial licences, licence administration, enquiries and newsletter preferences. Paddle separately controls payment and transaction information it collects as Merchant of Record.

Information we collect

  • Name, email address and company or studio name.
  • Purchaser, client and licence-holder information.
  • Selected products, licence types, company size, domains and apps.
  • Trial-licence acceptance and newsletter-consent records.
  • Messages, support requests and related correspondence.
  • Limited technical and security information supplied by our hosting services.

Quainton Type does not receive or store full payment-card details. Those are collected by Paddle and its payment partners.

How and why we use it

  • To provide fonts, trials, licence confirmations and support.
  • To administer and enforce font licences and prevent misuse.
  • To keep business, transaction and compliance records.
  • To respond to enquiries and improve the website and services.
  • To send newsletters only where you have actively opted in.

Depending on the activity, we rely on performance of a contract, compliance with legal obligations, legitimate interests in operating and protecting the foundry, or your consent. You may withdraw newsletter consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.

Service providers and international processing

Information may be processed by carefully selected providers supporting payments, hosting, secure delivery, email, accounting and professional advice. These currently include Paddle for paid transactions and Intuit Mailchimp for newsletter subscriptions. Some providers may process information outside the United Kingdom using contractual or other legally recognised safeguards. We do not sell personal information.

How long we keep it

  • Purchase, licence and accounting records: normally six years.
  • Trial-licence records: normally three years.
  • General enquiries: normally up to two years after the last contact.
  • Newsletter details: until you unsubscribe, followed by a minimal suppression record.
  • Routine security logs: normally no longer than 90 days unless needed to investigate an incident.

Information may be kept longer where reasonably necessary for a legal claim, dispute, fraud investigation or regulatory duty.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your information, or object to its use. You may also withdraw consent. Contact hello@quainton.xyz. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies and browser storage

The current Quainton Type website does not use advertising or behavioural-tracking cookies. It uses limited browser storage for functions requested by the visitor:

quainton-theme
Remembers the selected light or dark appearance.
quainton-cart
Preserves cart selections between pages and visits.

You can remove these values using your browser settings, although doing so resets the theme preference and empties the local cart. Paddle and Mailchimp may use their own necessary technologies when you interact with their checkout, forms or services; their own privacy and cookie notices apply to that processing.

If optional analytics, advertising or other non-essential storage is introduced later, this notice will be updated and consent will be requested where required before those technologies are used.
